We weren't getting picked up until 1:10, so were a bit annoyed and confused when there was someone knocking on our door at 10am, disturbing the lovely lie in I was having. Turns out it was the laundry lady wanting to get our laundry, and cleaning lady ready to clean.
I was up, so thought might aswell get moving. So I got dressed and headed downstairs to message the girlfriend and check emails, while Martin was still getting up.
After getting washed and sorted, we get picked up. We were travelling around in a sort of minibus, which looked a lot like the taxis that we hate, where the drivers are all crazy. Luckily this driver was a decent one, so the sense of danger was eliminated fairly early on. In our tour we had a fella from Singapore, a couple from Madagascar, and a couple from Nigeria, so 7 of us in total.
After driving for just under 2 hours, we arrived at our first stop. Boulders Beach. Now, one of my favourite animals is the penguin, so I was pretty psyched to go here since we arrived, and even happier when I heard it was part of our tour.
The Penguins were incredible. You pay around £3 to get in, and you walk along this long bridge, which goes through Boulders Beach, which puts you right up close with the Penguins in their natural habitat. I took so many photos I was terrible. I was loving it. I even managed to see a penguin poop aswell, which is another thing to tick off the bucket list!
We were allowed half an hour to look around, and before too long that time was up, so we headed back to the taxi to go to our second and final stop of the day, Cape Point, which was a further hourish drive from Boulders.
We eventually arrived at Cape Point, where we checked out the most Southern point of Africa, and saw some incredible views. We also saw the line where 2 currents meet in the ocean, the warm current and the cold current. There was a pretty clear divide, with a white, wave looking line splitting the sea all the way from quite a way out, to right up next to the beachfront. It was amazing.
After we got back to the taxi, our driver wanted to take us to Cape of Good Hope, which is right on the coast, and is the most South Western point of Africa. After a quick stop, taking a few photos, we got back in the taxi to head home, as we had completed all our stops.
On the way back though, we saw a few baboons on the hills, so the driver came to a stop so we could take some photos. We were urged not to go out the car though because they were wild baboons, and could be quite dangerous. It was amazing to see them up close though.
On the journey back, our driver took a different route back, which took us through Chapman Peak road, which you had to pay to go down, as it was a beautiful stretch of road that had been used for movies many times before. However, we had to delay the journey a bit, because the fire that hit the mountain during last week, meant that Chapman Peak road had to be closed, and wasn't going to be open again until 5:30. Luckily it was open when we got to it, and we drove on through. There was a point when you could park up and take photos, so we all got out the mini bus for 5-10 minutes to take photos. It was beautiful. The views were amazing it was quality. You can see why it was such a big deal.
After that we headed home, and we were dropped off at Berghof. The plan for tonight? Arsenal vs Man Utd! FA Cup quarter final. Arguably one of our biggest games of the season. Win this, and we are favourites to win it.
What. A. Game. I was on the edge of my seat for most of it, and was shaking too. It was amazing to watch, but so nerve racking to be a fan watching it. Both teams were attacking constantly, and it was back and forth all game. Thankfully, we won 2-1. With Monreal grabbing the first, and Danny Welbeck getting the winner against his old club, after Rooney equalised. I was going nuts I was so happy. Both teams played really well, and it could've gone either way. Thankfully it's us that heads to Wembley, where we take on either Bradford or Reading. A game we should win, but you can't be too sure with the FA Cup. My girlfriend, Maddie, seemed to get really into the game aswell, saying she was nervous throughout and happy when we won. Finally, my work with her is starting to pay off!
Tomorrow, back to work, with another session at Riverton Crèche and Wesbank. Hopefully it's not as hot as last week, and we're not sweating just standing around!
